Search, book and experience perfect grilling moments with the new online booking tool for Weber’s shop

The grill manufacturer and cult brand Weber-Stephen stands for premium products and services, sustainable quality and unique grilling moments. Weber's brand world is highly experience-oriented and addresses customers in their everyday life to spark their passion for barbecuing with Weber. Grilling novices and experts not only find a large variety of products on Weber's website, but also courses for Weber's Grill Academy, where attendees can discover the perfect way to barbecue with Weber products and create grilling experiences.

Previously the booking tool for the Grill Academy was based on Magento and had been isolated as a separate website, thus not meeting the high quality standards of the Weber-Stephen brand. Therefore, Weber chose BE EXCELLENT (part of Dept) as the solution integrator for implementing the innovative booking tool bookingkit, which is developed and built on Salesforce Commerce Cloud (formerly Demandware). The new booking tool enables customers to easily find, book and pay for the course whilst enjoying a seamless brand experience.

Benefits of the new booking tool at a glance


Search, find faster and more easily.
The former booking site offered a grilling course search along with a filter option for location and a sorting feature for name as well as date. To ensure that the search results meet individual customer wishes, a new user-friendly search with filter options for location, name, date and number of attendees has been implemented. The user can now check the availability of courses in an easy to use calendar, before needing to search. The option of fully booked courses are now hidden to aid the user experience.

Registration per click.
The customer, having found the perfect grill course, had to click through to the details on the site to proceed along with registration and the number of participants could only be edited in the cart. Now, a new panel enables registration for the desired number of participants with just one click!

One cart for products and courses.
By migrating the booking tool to Salesforce Commerce Cloud, the BE EXCELLENT experts have integrated the previously separate booking website into the online shop, generating a better user experience by enabling customers to both buy products in the Weber shop as well as booking Grill Academy courses with single sign on, resulting in a seamless, user-friendly order and payment process.

Contemporary design.
The new booking tool is outstanding – not only with high usability, but also with visually appealing design. Due to a clear structure and optical highlighting of the dates, the customer quickly finds their favoured course. The sites contain detailed and prescriptive images, structured data and route planning by Google Maps.

By having implemented bookingkit, BE EXCELLENT enhanced the shopping and brand experience of Weber's customers. The new booking tool was launched in the Netherlands on 11th April 2017 as well as in France on 19th April 2017.

Next, further rollouts will follow until June 2018, including UK, Ireland, Austria, and Germany.
